What is the treatment for blood in the urine? |
The immediate treatment is determining the underlying cause and institute appropriate treatment to stop the bleeding. Blood thinners such as Aspirin, Plavix, warfarin and Persantin should be stopped. Blood clots may accumulate in the bladder causing retention of urine. This will require a catheter to be passed into the bladder to drain the bladder. In severe bleeding, the bladder may need to be flushed continuously till the bleeding stops. UroSurgery Mt. E, Urology Specialist Clinic, Singapore
